Video-based Mirage for Extended Pencil Tracing

This paper describes new method for synthesizing visual appearance of atmospheric optical phenomena with shimmering in 3D CG. We previously have presented the extended pencil tracing technique, and realized to reproduce shimmered appearance like mirages. Now, we enhance our method by using texture captured from actual phenomenon with shimmering. In order to realize this, we utilize the motion estimation technique. We illustrate that it is possible to synthesize plausible appearance of mirages with shimmering by our method.
